As we wrap up the events that took place in the last 40 days of Jesus’ post-resurrected life, we finally come to His final instructions, often referred to as “The Great Commission”.  The type of commission we are talking about in this morning’s passage is defined as “…an instruction, command, or duty given to a person or group of people.” In other words, what we are about to read this morning applies to all Christians as an imperative – a non-negotiable command, or order – and a call to action. To that end, I will go through each aspect of the Great Commission this morning as a kind of reminder and hopefully clarify a few points as to what we have been commissioned to do.
