Who We Are

Valley Bible Chalet is a non-denominational Bible church, founded in 1968. We are a warm and welcoming community of believers who have a heart to serve and minister to our neighbors along Turnagain Arm. What We Believe:

...About God:

 We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, who are co-equal and identical in nature, power, and attributes.  God the Father provided salvation as revealed by the Son (Jesus Christ); God the Son purchased salvation by His incarnation, redemption, and resurrection; God the Holy Spirit produces the salvation and growth in all Christians.

...About the Bible:

 We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to be the verbal, plenary (complete), and inspired Word of God, the final and infallible authority for faith and practice.

...About Salvation: 

We believe that salvation is provided by the grace of God, brought to humanity as a gift to be received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

Our Pastor

Mike was called to be the pastor at Valley Bible Chalet in June of 2026. 

Mike and his wife Juanita were both born and raised in southern California. They married in 1999 and have four adult children and a sweet mini goldendoodle (Bailey). 

In 2007, they went on a mission trip to Gulkana, AK. They thought it was a one-time event, but God had huge plans for them. After that first trip, God prepared their hearts for His plan, and they moved to Alaska in 2010.

They began serving at Gulkana Community Chapel. They came for the kids, but God opened other doors and allowed them to also minister into the lives of teens and adults. Mike became pastor of the church in 2020. 

After 14 years in Gulkana, they moved to Anchorage as full-time missionaries on staff with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). They were excited to work with the teens who felt their own calling to own their own faith and sought to be trained and share the gospel with the younger generation. 

Although they enjoyed working with CEF, God was nudging Mike to return to the pulpit. God then opened the door for Mike to join Valley Bible Chalet.
