Behold The Man!
Bible Text: John 19:1-11 | Preacher: Eric Kretschmer | Series: John
We can only make sense of the torture and death of Jesus Christ when we understand the seriousness of what it means to sin against God. In fact, the more we minimize our sin the more trouble we have accepting that the death of Jesus Christ was necessary.
Because of the fact God is our holy and righteous Judge means that all that Jesus went through, death by crucifixion, was a punishment that fit the crime. But here
is the rub: In the case of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, He had committed no crime, but rather voluntarily took the punishment every sinner deserves. And we should keep this in mind as we read the account of how Jesus was tortured and killed, knowing that He was taking the punishment that we each deserve.
