One of the “Big questions” people often struggle to answer is “Why is there so much death, sickness and suffering in the world if an all-powerful and all-loving God exists?” We could answer this generally from the Christian perspective, knowing that sin entered into the world because of our rebellion against God, which lead to death and suffering and moral evil, and is now an integrated part of a world that was originally created and assessed by God as “Good”.

And though that is the general answer to why there is evil in the world today, this morning we are going to focus on why there is a particular form of evil, known as the persecution of the Church, going on today.
